The following comments are from some of Coleen's former employees, coworkers, and peers during the time she worked in the Custer County Attorney's office:

"…The Custer County Attorney’s office is the busiest state prosecutor’s office east of Billings. The caseload while I worked for Coleen included numerous homicides, burglaries, offenses against children, and other violent crimes. Coleen gave more of herself to each case than any other prosecutor I have worked with. Of special concern to her were any crimes committed against children. The residents of Custer County were very fortunate to have someone so dedicated and competent to represent their interests…"

"In a few short weeks you will have the opportunity to go to the polls and I would like to let you know that I have had the privilege to work with Coleen Magera, now a candidate in Sanders County for County Attorney.
I worked with Coleen Magera from August 1, 1993 until October 1, 1995 while I was the Clerk of District Court in Powder River County. I found Ms. Magera both as Powder River County Attorney and a a private attorney to be very knowledgeable, fair, well-prepared at all times and very helpful and cooperative with all the people she came in contact with. We also served as members of the P.R. County’s Adult Protection and Child Protection Teams during that same period; again I was impressed with her abilities.
Having worked with many attorneys, I found Ms. Magera to be exceptional and was very sorry to see her leave our county. You as voters now have the opportunity to elect this candidate and have a County Attorney that will be knowledgeable, prepared, honest and fair."

"…Throughout Coleen’s employment in the Custer County Attorney’s office, she made beneficial changes to our office and attained accomplishments worth pointing out. One of her most valuable accomplishments was the development of the Victim/Witness Program using federal grant monies in 1996. Coleen believed it was a worthwhile project that would ensure victims of crime receive fair and proper treatment in the criminal justice system. The program is still in operation serving an average of 120 victims a year.

In 1999, Coleen started the ball rolling to provide an electronic system in the county’s district court that allows attorneys to present any type of evidence visually. This system was patterned after the federal courtrooms in Billings, and was a first in Montana district courts. She also worked diligently to revise and implement a much needed county personnel policy handbook.

Coleen continually recognized the need and value of collaboration with other agencies, especially law enforcement and the domestic violence community advocates. She assisted in organizing a Major Case Response Team with the local law enforcement agencies, and was a driving force in establishing our Child Evaluation Center which focuses on using a multidisciplinary team approach when responding to child abuse allegations, investigations, treatments, and prosecutions…"

"I urge the voters of Sanders County to vote for Coleen Magera for County Attorney.

I have known Coleen Magera for more than ten years.  In that time she served as Custer County Attorney.  As an attorney in Miles City, I had the pleasure to work with her on many occasions  She demonstrated the highest degree of professionalism. The public and officials were treated with respect and attention.

In Custer County Coleen was instrumental in obtaining a Victim Advocate so that families afflicted by crime would not be forgotten.  She worked very hard in the area of Child Protection, especially for victims of child abuse.  She initiated programs in the schools to fight drug abuse and established a Family Treatment Court.

Your vote for Coleen Magera may well be the most valuable vote you cast for good
local government."

McGrathDuring his visit to Plains in October, State Attorney General Mike McGrath endorsed Coleen's candidacy, saying, "Coleen will do very well by the people of Sanders County.  Not just by the criminal side [of her official duties] but also by the civil side. Coleen's the person who can do it."
